Yongde Tengzi Cha 2010 (Bannacha)

Heute habe ich länger überlegt, welchen Tee ich für die ausgiebige Sonntags-Sitzung wähle - dann entdeckte ich einen kleinen Rest in einer Mustertüte von Bannacha: den Tengzi Cha.
Today I couldn't decide on the tea for my Sunday session - then I discovered as a forgotten treasue the remaining bit of Tengzi Cha from Bannacha.

Die Blätter sind - wie ich es von den Bannacha Tees kennne - größer, schön und in vielen Schattierungen von dunklem Grün mit ganz klein wenig Braun. Ein paar Stängelchen sind dabei (was einen hübschen Bing für mich noch schöner macht) aber relativ wenige Silberknospen. Der Bing war wohl nicht zu fest gepresst - die Blätter lösen sich ganz einfach.
The leaves are - as I have come to expect from most of Bannacha's offerings - biggish, beautiful and in a multitude of deep green shades with even some few brownish bits here and there. Some stalks are to be found (which makes a beautiful bing even more charming in my eyes) but hardly any silvery buds. The bing was not pressed too tightly - the nugget of my sample easily fell apart.

Auch der Duft enttäuschte nicht: wunderbare Sheng'igkeit ohne jegliche Aggressivität. Was ich von jungem Sheng erwarte ist alles da - aber nicht herausfordernd stark (denke da an den beeindruckenden Longrun Zhongmu) sondern genau in dem Maß, dass ich mich bei diesem Tee willkommen fühle.
Neither does the fragrance disappoint: marvelous sheng'iness without any aggressivity. Everything I expect from a young sheng is there - but not in a forceful challenge (thinking of the Longrun Zhongmu), rather in a mellow way which makes me feel welcome.

Nun sollte ich mal zum Geschmack kommen - das wird sicher die meisten interessieren.
Leider fällt es mir sehr schwer, diesen Geschmack zu beschreiben ... sobald ich den Tee im Mund habe, nehme ich fast nur noch Emotionen und Erinnerungen wahr und kannmich fast nicht mehr auf reine Geschmackseindrücke konzentrieren. Also erstmal das Gefühl des Tees: Heimkehr. Wenn ich nach einer Reise (wohlmöglich sogar noch mit überfüllten Zügen) nach Hause komme, wo alles vertraut riecht, der Lärm der Welt draußen bleibt und meine Frau mich in den Arm nimmt ... dieses Gefühl habe ich bei diesem Tee.
Might be about time to start writing about this tea's taste - surely something you are most curious about. Unfortunately I find it extremely difficult to describe this tate ... as soon as the tea enters my mouth, my conciousness is flooded by emotion and memories, so I find it exceedingly hard to focus on mere taste information. So let's first get to this emotion: coming home. When I come home from travelling (especially overcrowded trains) and enter my home where every smell is familiar, the noise of the world is locked out and my wife embraces me ... this is what the Tengzi Cha feels like.

Um mich mal wirklich anzustrengen noch etwas zu  Geschmack und Mundgefühl:
Süß und frisch, aber nicht ätherisch. Etwas Würze, schmeckt wie frisches Heu duftet. Ohne Wuchtigkeit hat der Tee dennoch einen sehr harmonischen, bodenständigen Körper. Im Mund ist der Tee etwas dickflüssig, bleibt lange als wohliger Film auf Zunge und Gaumen zurück. Nicht das prickelnd anregende Pulsieren im Zahnfleisch, dass ich bei vielen Sheng als Qualitätsmerkmal schätze, aber ein wunderbar beruhigendes, entspannendes Gefühl. Eben wie eine Heimkehr.
To wring something from my brain about taste and mouthfeel:
Sweet and fresh but not etherial. Some spicy/savoury notes and a taste reminiscent of fresh hay's fragrance. Without any weightiness yet blessed with a harmonious down-to-earth  body. The liquid feels a bit viscous, coating tongue and roof of the mouth pleasantly. Not the prickling, envigorating pulsing I get in my gums from some other high quality shengcha, but a delightfully calming and relaxing feeling ... just like coming home.

Genug getextet - jetzt lehne ich mich zurück und genieße einfach nur den Tee.
Enough words - now I just sit back, relax and enjoy my tea.
